During her second set Ms. Scott kept the energy going and the crowd dancing with her upbeat, powerful voice, saucy stage presence, and sheer energy. Dancing around on stage, she urged the crowd up to dance and to sing along to the refrain on many of her songs. Her solid trio on bass, guitar, and drums kept in a steady driving blues groove that helped keep the dancers on the floor. Ms. Scott did a good job of mixing covers with originals and changing tempos, while keeping the crowds enthusiasm and energy going all the while.
At the end of her show, Ms. Scott sang a strong, expressive version of "Stand by Me" that had the concrete dance floor filled with couples dancing slow and close. After a more up-tempo number to finish her show, Ms. Scott came back for an encore, singing "Let's Have a Party" with improvised, added lyrics geared to the crowd, including the inclusion of "Who Let the Dogs Out" within it. The dance floor was crowded with writhing bodies. Then Ms. Scott invited people to dance on the stage. A strong woman, she helped pull people up on the stage until soon twenty people were dancing around her and her band. While normally Famous Dave's starts to clear out around 11:30, Ms. Scott kept the attention and appetite of the crowd for more. More importantly, she kept them in the house. Singing as she left the stage, Ms. Scott had definitely created a great party atmosphere for dancing to the blues. Hopefully we'll see her back soon in the Twin Cities.
