A fellow distantly associated with the label called me earlier today, asking if he should go out of his way to meet Harper. I pushed him to do so as strongly as I could. The caller was a producer and active performer; he needs all the contact with present sidemen and future frontmen he can get. That's Harper.

What Harper needs is direction. When motivated on this release, he's perfect. Previous recordings and all past live performances have let people know that there's no limit to what a creative man can do with diatonic harmonica. There are movie scores in him. There are pivotal fills for other people's songs in him. There are instructional DVDs, instrument essays and instrument engineering that will make better harmonicas available to all harp players. He's the kind of guy one could air drop into a cultural desert and be assured of finding a cultural Mecca a year later. He's the harmonica player this reviewer would like to partner with the prospective best 1-4-5 musicians out there today, including Corbin Keep, Harry Manx and Richard Hunter.

Personally, I think he needs new motivation to put out a record worthy of his talent and creativity.
