A.C. Miles Band
Mucic 109
(ACMylesMusic,BMI@ 2003 #RIR-CD 7080)
Review Date: October 2007
by Dave "Mad Dog" Madlener
Took me a while to get to this one. I like his music and the title of the CD makes me think about music as a study and learning process. In and of itself, I like the tempo and the music. A.C. plays the guitar and sings throughout. I think he has talent, spunk and showmanship. I like the songs he chooses and the way they are arranged. It is upbeat music. You are gonna find yourself listening to sing along the next few times you play it.
It would be a really good gift for a young musician that you want to turn on to the blues. There are a few different styles here, good guitar, good rhythm and room for a harp and a little more somethin' to fill in. This is only 3 dudes, a guitar, a drummer and a bass player with a picture of A.C. on the cover and a collage of the band on the inside sleeve. I'll say this trio sounds tight. I look for more out of this group, it's only their second release.
I say there needs to be some more accent to this in part but in other it is just about as full bodied as you can get. Its very good. Its bluesy, swingish and jittery along with jumpy. Music 109 is a lesson that some may have forgotten. A flashback, at times, to the Gatemouth Brown era of the 40's and 50's with a touch of Stevie Ray Vaughn and Johnny Lang. Its worth a few listens.
