As far as live recordings go, this one is a chart buster. Chubby produced and assembled these sessions from recorded tracks on June 22, 2001, February 12, 2002, and March 27, 2004. Having lived in France and Germany, I can honestly say, the fans are beyond exuberant–point in fact; they go totally wild! Climbing the stage to an educated and receptive audience is equally uplifting. Obviously, the musician, is going to feed off the mass energy and he or she; as a rule, will end up playing their ass off. Well, Chubby was most definitely pumped during these French dates. There are no guitar tricks with the "Strat Attack!" Does he shred metal and go beyond the usual chord phrasing and textbook crap coming out of far too many studios these days? Yes. One of my many complaints is having to listen to the same old tired lines in what they call contemporary blues. There’s no fire; very little spirit or soul goes into them. Not so with Popa Chubby, this dude is relentless. He even brings life to a couple of overly recorded covers with an absolute killer guitar blitz–and a whole lot of soul in those vocals. This guy’s for real.
