L-Roy and The Bullet Proof Band presents a conundrum to those of you that may not know of him or them. L-Roy, and wife Linda own a bar on the South Side of Chicago. This "Linda's Lounge" is a place to be on Monday Nights in Chicago. For a shameless blues lovers plug, they are located at 1044 W. 51st St.
The CD has 10 cuts of Rythem and Blues with excellent vocals and back-up band. L-Roy provides the vocals on most of these. A very nice raspy voice to go along with a smooth band. Albert J. Anderson plays the lead guitar, "double A" .
Song # 2 may be my favorite for the creativity of the pen and the way it is sung and played. Song # 6 is absolutely the best "hurts so good from the first beat" blues song This compilation , in my opinion, is a slow dance groove thang, generally speaking. It strikes me as "Mo-Town" and I like it.
There are only 3 original written songs, but still in all, these cats and the ladies from Linda's Lounge performed at the Chicago Blues Fest 2005. It is good music.
In person, on the South Side of Chicago, you should come and experience it for yourself. The blues of any style or year is still the blues. It is what separates us and brings us together. There are so many beautiful ballads on this collection that feature the vocals, but without that band would not be beautiful.
#6 will kick your ever lovin thing. For the exception of Percy Strother, Don't think I've ever heard a song that I know it was gonna hurt from the get-go. "Cold Feelin" should be played worldwide.
I think the blues has L-Roy kinda like they have John Lee Hooker Jr.. It's just a thing that gets ya. Once it's got ya, ya can't get rid of it. L-Roy has a beautiful blues voice and on a personal note some successful female children. This is his first shot at a CD, he raised 3 girls, lawyers and doctors, and now he is releasing music.
Check out what they have goin on!
