I am about to call this one a soothing ass kicker. I guess I just did. Think it's the differences and changes in this CD that makes it a good one in your rotation. At first I wasn't sure but in a changer or standard CD player with one CD playing after another, this bad boy is one among itself. When you forget who's CD is in the player and when this one comes on you'll find yourself saying, "Who is this?".
I like the way it keeps me guessing. You'll find blues, Gospel, Modern media, and a live crow callin to ya. This is innovative and worth a listen. There are some pretty famous people on it. Damn, it's the Harp in song # 5 that sends it off for me each time. From there on this takes on a whole different meaning based on what you heard in the previous 4 tracks. #6 six specifically mentions a raging Fire and the Harp continues to Howl. The changes are funk and all that in this one.
Song #7 is "Black & Blue (first stone cast)" This is a Stevie Ray sound alike (for a point of reference) and this is where you hear the live crow. There are almost no words to this song. It is an example of the talents that exist within this selection.
Song #8 is "G-Blue" and is undoubtedly a gospel song. It fits in so well and in the unforgotten rotation will make a listener ask, "Who is this one?" and get up and look. This whole thing will catch you by surprise. That is what it did to me.
I could go with any one of the 8 songs after # 5 as my favorite but I like the one with the crow the best along with #5 "My Heart to Give" as my favorite of this selection. Songs # 1 - 4 introduce you to the artist, the rest tells you what he is capable of.
If The price is right, I think you'll like this one. Hay Bobby gives you a bonus track or two and his little son even sings for ya on song #13 "Sweetest Love". Pick it up if you can.
