One of Washington State’s best known blues groups, Too Slim and the Taildraggers don’t pull any punches as they play a straight whiskey style of blues with a Southern rock beer back chaser. They continue with their rough and ready approach on their 10th release, Tails Of Sin and Redemption. The disc doesn’t deviate from past projects but is an in your face reminder of how fun this band is. From the get go, this record pumps out high octane blues. Too Slim’s rousing guitar and deadpan vocals are all fired up with solid backing from John Langford and Dave Nordstrom. Tracks such as ‘Walk On Water’ and ‘Mississippi Moon’ have an especially profound country vibe which harkens back to the album rock of Lynyrd Skynyrd. The band cuts lose with some hard driving rock on ‘Perspective’ only to return to straight ahead blues on ‘Some Kinda’ Momma’. The album ends with the low key jazzy track ‘Too Cool’. If you don’t have this cd in your collection, get it!
