Peter Lang has been recognized for years as mater of finger style guitar. With a foundation influenced by the likes of Leo Kottke, John Fahey and Dave ASnaker@ Ray, the enigmatic Lang has evolved his music into a combination of folk, blues, rag and classical guitar. Lycurgus is the 2003 re-release of Lang=s 1975 Grammy nominated recording. Old and new fans of Lang will enjoy Lycurgus because of the exceptional guitar and the fact that the record has been out of print since 1985 when as Lang puts it, AThe record stampers wore out.@ Though not a blues recording per se, blues fans should enjoy songs like ARound Worm Reel@, ALet The Old Boy Go@, AUntitled Oblivion@, AHello Baby Blues@ and AStackolee@. The title track, ALycurgus@, is not blues, but it is a great song, with exceptional guitar.
