Delbert has been at it again, he has released another wonderful live album. When Delbert released
"Live From Austin" it was a landmark album, now this new "Live" album is yet another benchmark, it is quite
simply a cracker. The concert was recorded as part of Norway's Bergen Blues Festival 2003 and was recorded
for a radio concert but when the recordings were sent to Delbert, he realised it would make a great album.
The band are on top form and Delbert sounds wonderful as they commence with "Old Weakness
(Coming On Strong)". Rob McNally shines on guitar throughout this album but his playing on "Leap of
Faith" is truly outstanding. Don Wise on Sax is another who shines. Delbert also shines on harp as he
delivers a great performance on "I Wanna Thank You Baby"
Some of the numbers were on Delbert's "Live From Austin" but that hardly matters due to the fact he manages
to add something new to the long-time numbers, "Going Back To Louisiana" being a good example. Another
of the long standing songs, "I've Got Dreams To Remember" is an anthem and even though this is an Otis Redding
song, it feels more Delbert than Otis. "I'm With You" is vibrant, whilst "Smooth Talk" is raunchy and punchy.
"Squeeze Me In" sizzles as it romps along, with some splendid piano playing from Kevin McKendree. This album
has it's slower moments and "Don't Want To Love You" is handled with tender loving care from Delbert, another
slow one I like on this album is "When Rita Leaves". "Why Me" is a good old rocker that roars along at a
breath-taking pace. All good things have to come to an end and "Little Fine Healthy Thing" is the final song on
the album. This is the kind of album that artists dream of making and Delbert's done it twice. All I can say
is BUY it, you will not be disappointed
