First off; I like this guy. A late bloomer to be sure, he didn’t cut his teeth on guitar until later in life. Usually, for most people, they begin picking up instruments at an early age (teen or younger); the instruments are then housed in the deepest bowels of a dark closet for future reference where they become relics. Albert went into the family trades construction-- I believe, and like everybody else, worked for a paycheck. However, he was passionate about music and had many influences. Leaning more towards the blues, it wasn’t long before he picked up a guitar, and of course the rest is history. I believe Mr. Cummings is a natural after giving this disc more than several spins. I also believe this is his debut record—if so—it’s one hell of a showcase right from the top: the opening track “Man On Your Mind” is a classic blues/rock fusion. A fine mix of lead and rhythm fireworks—very cool. The song “Work It Out” is a club bounce and ass shaker; tough vocals (in fact, you’ll notice this guy’s pipes throughout the album, totally superb!). Going into track #3 “Come Up For Air” is in your face with a superb ax attack complete with bends, pulls, snaps, and you name it! Now, I could take you through all ten tracks, but it’s unecessary. Each song grows and gets better and better until the final track. This is one of the better debuts I’ve had the pleasure to listen to.
