Maddy is an English lass who makes a convincing blues singer. Her band is augmented by session musicians for this recording, but her regular guitarist Marc Ellison comes across as a potential star in his own right. The two of them composed all of the songs except the first, Andrew Emmett's "Faith To Follow" and the last, the traditional "Amazing Grace". The album is generally in the area you would find the likes of Bonnie Raitt or Debbie Davies (although Maddy doesn't play guitar herself, at least on the CD), but with a strong Christian element added. It's not a gospel CD, far from it, it's a good solid blues CD, but most of the lyrics tend to be about or to God. If you like the blues (and if you don't what are you doing here?) and you share her beliefs there is no reason why you should not enjoy the album. If you're an atheist like me, don't let that put you off too much either. I still found it musically engaging and interesting enough to be enjoyable anyway.
