blues picture We lost one of our greatest Soul singers in 2000 but while he was here, Johnnie Taylor gave us some of the most memorable recordings over three decades. The balladeer was highly influential on everyone from Luther Vandross to Brian McKnight. While his biggest hit came in 1976 with 'Disco Lady' Taylor ended up as a Malaco veteran and one of the most prolific artist on the small label.

There's No Good In Goodbye is the first release of previously recorded material issued by Malco since the singer death. The disc shows off the versatility of Johnnie Taylor by showcasing heartfelt ballads such as 'If You're Looking For Me' and 'This Is The Night For Makin' Up' to the blues shuffle of 'Crazy 'Bout You Baby'. With a James Brown funk vibe, Taylor delivers 'You Know That Aint Right'. He added a Louisiana flavor to the Paul Simon composition 'Take Me To The Mardi Gras'. Even though his excursions into blues, funk and disco were enjoyable, his powerful voice always blended itself best with powerful and soul drenched ballads and there are plenty on this compilation. So, grab your best girl, open a bottle of wine and put on There's No Good In Goodbye and you'll have a night that you won't soon forget.
