CD Image When originally released in 1998, this disc was limited to a mere one-thousand copies and it seems that there was enough interest for the Burnside label to reissue it. Charlie Christian's Breakfast Fued Intro serves as a potent and swinging opener with riffing horns but Willie Dixon's Insane Asylum never takes off due to guitarist Chris Carlson's forced vocal. Things pick up for The Love You're After with Duffy Bishop proving she can sing well, and if it weren't for her voice, Bath Of Love might be mistaken for a Blues Brothers' outtake with funked-up bass and polished horn charts. Ann Cole's Easy Baby gets a nice reading and Bishop's own Ten Minute Kiss rides the shave-and-a-haircut groove. Johnny Adams' Room With A View slows the pace and starts fine, but at 13 minutes, it carries on far too long, while the closer, Everyone's Coming To A Party mines the second-line New Orleans vein well. It's not essential, but The Queen's Own Bootleg might satisfy that itch for a different beverage on occasion. www.burnsiderecords.com. 10 tracks, 70 minutes.
