Welcome to the Fifth Annual Blues On The Range
Blues On The Range has always been an easy going, relaxing affair. The festival takes place in a picturesque setting on the Iron Range in northern Minnesota surrounded by beautiful pine trees and scenic views. The crisp, fresh air has a memorable fragrance and the night sky is lit up with so many bright stars you think you can almost touch them. The festival area, held at the Ironworld Discovery Center, has many meandering paths, several kids play areas, indoor museums and activity centers, as well as two stages--the indoor pavilion and the much larger outdoor (with a partial cover) Amphitheatre. The music alternates between the two stages with a fifteen minute break between sets so you never have to miss a performance.
This year Blues On The Range brings you some top notch local and national talent. You will hear great acoustic performances by Mel Sando, Bob Bingham & Gordon Thorne, and Paul Metsa & Bob Wilson. You will see young blues sensations Shawn Pittman, Corey Harris, and Sean Costello. You will get to boogie with the local talent of American Hip, Azure duJour, The Slammers, Easy Money, Paul Holland and Supa Fuzz , and The Busters. Groove to the seasoned rhythm and blues of the Tom Hunter Band, The Kinsey Report, Big Jack Johnson, and Big John Dickerson and Blue Chamber. And I hope you brought along your dancing shoes because this weekend will be turned into a Louisiana dance party with the rocking music of three of the countries top zydeco bands--young Rosie Ledet, Terrance Simien, and C.J. Chenier & His Red Hot Louisiana Band. If you are looking for a relaxing and entertaining blues festival, away from the busy urban setting, then you are definitely in the right place this weekend.
