Possessing a strong reverence for the tradition of the blues, Mark "Cleveland Fats" Hahn is a versatile blues guitarist, who can get some of the richest sounds out of his hollow bodied electric guitar. His playing has a deep toned, traditional blues sound that covers the spectrum from deep Delta blues to traditional Windy City blues with excursions into the weighty string-bending styles of Albert King or Buddy Guy. He also plays a solid slide. His pedigree is quite impressive having spent 18 years playing guitar with one of his musical idols Robert Lockwood Jr. This mainline link to traditional blues is reflected in his excellent guitar playing and song selection. His playing and high caliber song writing skills can be found on his debut Wild Dog Blues (Ichiban released) CD "The Other Side of Midnight." After listening to him perform his original material you'd think it was written back in the 1950's.

His set list at his recent Blues Saloon show featured original material from his new album as well as classics from Jimmy Rogers, Robert Johnson, Robert Lockwood, Sonnyboy Williamson and B.B. King. I always enjoy listening to Freddie King's "Hideaway" and his version was superb. His band included RB Salyer on bass, Mark Fredrick on keyboards, Denny Phillips on drums and Sunset Slim on harmonica. Slim was out in audience a few times blowing some nice sounding harp and sucking up to the ladies in the crowd.
