Paul Holland and the Supafuzz are a Minneapolis based Rock/Blues trio who create a rocking, hard-edged sound that pays homage to Stevie Ray Vaughan and Jimi Hendrix and is reminiscent of Kenny Wayne Shepherd. The band consists of three veteran musicians with frontman Paul Holland on lead guitar. Paul said his name is "actually spelled Haaland, but pronounced Holland. So I go with Holland to keep it simple." Paul has been entertaining Twin Cities guitar fans for nearly two decades now. He first started playing guitar when he was ten with his first gig at a church dance in 1975 where he played 10 songs, "five by Deep Purple and five by BTO," relates Paul with a laugh. His previous band, 3 Below, was the recipient of a Minnesota Music Award for best Blues Album, and Paul has been the winner of a couple of "Twin Cities Best Guitarist" contests sponsored by the Cabooze. Paul was also a featured player on a recent "Tribute to Jimi Hendrix" show in Minneapolis. Randy Olejnicak (drums & vocals), has performed with Shirley Witherspoon, and accompanied her on a very successful European tour. Neil Powell (bass & vocals), recently graduated from the nationally recognized North Texas State Jazz College and played in a band called Mingo Fishtrap out of Dallas. It was "sort of the Greazy Meal of Dallas," says Paul. Paul Holland and the Supafuzz has been the opening act for a who's-who of blues guitar players including: Johnny Winter, Jeff Healey, Tab Benoit, Dick Dale, Lonnie Mack, John Mayall, Mick Taylor, Savoy Brown, and Jonny Lang, among others.
