"Young Girl Blues" to "Big City Blues" – the titles to two of Sue Foley’s early albums sums up her musical journey. Canadian born, Sue Foley brings a refreshing breeze to the blues community with her absolutely remarkable guitar playing, superior song writing and passionate vocals. In a field dominated by males, Sue Foley has the superb guitar skills that allows her to stand shoulder to shoulder with the best blues guitar players on stage today. Her live shows are electrifying! At the tender age of 13 she asked for a guitar, at 15 she was sneaking into local clubs, and by 17 she was joining in blues jams around her native Ottawa. Foley formed her own band and on one trip into the states she wound up in Memphis in the late 1980’s where she was discovered by Clifford Antone while sitting in with Duke Robillard at the W.C. Handy Awards. Within a month she had moved to Austin, Texas and began a recording stint that ultimately saw the release of her 4th album in 1996 called "Walk In The Sun." On that album Sue Foley came fully into her own style and was recognized as one of the top draws on the blues scene. After taking a short break from performing to give birth to her son three years ago Sue moved back to Canada, has regrouped musically and signed with a new label. This year she released her newest, and perhaps her best album to date, on Sanachie Records, Love Comin’ Down. With her signature pink paisley Telecaster and golden-red hair, Sue Foley brightens up any stage she is on. With her reputation firmly in place, and her new album a shining example of what a woman can do for the blues, Sue Foley continues to break new ground as she matures into one of the blues' finest. Sue will also be performing "under the tent" at the Bayfront Blues Saloon on Sunday night. The Keller Brothers Band (who played with Sue for two years in Austin) will be backing Sue at the festival.
