20 year old sensation Sean Costello is a riveting, world-class guitarist who first gained national recognition as lead guitarist with Susan Tedeschi. Costello’s passionate devotion to, and thorough knowledge of most of the classic blues styles of the 20th Century allows him to play just about any style of blues with a remarkable maturity and excellence that astounds his audiences. Sean brings a veteran's amount of experience to the stage and the release of his newest album, "Cuttin' In," finds him in peak form, moving effortlessly through a varied set of vintage blues, R&B nuggets, and catchy originals. Costello was born in 1979 in Philadelphia and moved with his family to Atlanta at age 9, about the same time he began playing the guitar. Early on he could duplicate the rock sounds of Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix, and Stevie Ray Vaughan was a definite influence as well. But at the age of 12 when he picked up a Howlin' Wolf record at a local bargain bin and heard the guitar sounds of Hubert Sumlin, it changed his life. "It was the hippest thing I'd ever heard," he says. At 14, Sean won the 1994 Blues Talent Contest sponsored by the Memphis Beale Street Blues Society, and later competed in the International Blues Talent Competition. It wasn't long before he was on the road with his own band, and along the way sitting in with the likes of James Cotton, B.B. King, Buddy Guy, Pinetop Perkins, and Bo Diddley. In 1996 he recorded his first album, "Call The Cops." His exceptional guitar playing and gripping vocals sets him apart as one of the better young bluesmen playing today. He will also be playing at Jim’s Sports Bar in Chisholm on Saturday, June 10, 2000.
