There is really only one word that best describes Bill "The Sauce Boss" Wharton. Passion! He is passionate about his Gumbo and he is passionate about his music (which includes his slide guitar, the blues and paying respect to the originators of this music). What is totally unique about Bill Wharton is that he has also found a way to combine both of his loves--gumbo and music. He has created a singular "multi-sensory" experience as he actually prepares a huge pot of Gumbo on stage during his show—ready to serve to his hungry fans at the end of the night. Amid this enticing aroma that is floating around the stage you are treated to high-energy, dance-party music underpinned with Wharton’s rousing slide guitar playing. Since he started serving up his own fiercely original blues and gumbo more than 10 years ago, this Florida native has cooked and served-up over 70,000 bowls of gumbo to blues fans around the world. Bill Wharton is by no means a straight-ahead blues player, the guitarist, singer and songwriter's recordings and shows feature a rootsy mix of blues, classic R&B and Cajun-flavored tunes. Part story teller, part stand-up comedian, part evangelist, and all bluesman, Bill "The Sauce Boss" Wharton knows how to create excitement. So why has the "Sauce Boss" embarked in this crazy gumbo crusade? What's the message in his madness? "Let's share our music and have a meal together, and watch the social barriers melt away," proclaims Wharton. After he finishes with his stirring and singing, and his "fretting" and sweating, watch out, because Bill Wharton just might find a new convert on his gumbo and blues crusade.
