One of the most engaging R&B and blues entertainers in the Twin Cities, Big John Dickerson started out his musical career as a jazz drummer. Born in Ohio, Dickerson moved to Detroit where he was exposed to the music of The Temptations, B.B. King, Bobby Bland and Junior Parker.

Big John’s charming stage personality and good time antics has won over audiences around the Twin Cities for many years. Recently he got together with a group of superb musicians to record an album released on Ron Levy’s new Cannonball Records label called "Big John Dickerson and Blue Chamber." After a successful run as the house band at Famous Dave’s BBQ & Blues in Minneapolis the band has been out on a very successful tour of the U.S. and Europe.

Blue Chamber is composed of a group of local "all star" musicians led by Iron Ranger Paul Mayasich who plays a scorching lead and slide guitar. The band’s new rhythm section includes Art Haynes on bass and Jeff Rogers on drums. Scott David Miller is joined on keyboards by the horn section led by Joe DeRasmi on trumpet and Larry McDonald on saxophone. Most of these musicians have been performing for years, backing some of the great blues legends.

Big John Dickerson & Blue Chamber come roaring out of the Twin Cities in a no-holds-barred blues and R&B assault. Get ready as they transform any stage they play on into their own roadhouse featuring some rip-roaring, good-time big band blues.

They will be playing in the tent at the Canal Park Inn after the festival on Sunday night.
