Tom O'Hara (guitar and vocals), Tom Hillman (bass and vocals), and Todd Larson (drums and backing vocals) were doing a little brainstorming about a year ago trying to come up with a name for their newly formed blues band. They were talking about having some fun playing the blues and finding ways to make some "easy money." And the name just clicked. Although there was really "no easy money in playing the blues," joked O'Hara. The blues trio, Easy Money, is a blues and R&B based band who play mostly original songs with definite funk, rock and jazz stylings. Guitarist Tom O'Hara and bassist Tom Hillman were childhood friends who first played together in a band more than 25 years ago while in Junior High School. After school they each went their separate ways until a few years ago when they found themselves both playing in a country band called Midnight Ride. That reunion ignited some old ambitions and they decided to form a blues band and get back to playing the music they both were more accustomed to. O'Hara, who has been playing guitar for more than 25 years said his major influences were guitarists like Robben Ford and Eric Clapton. Hillman has been playing bass for more than 25 years with vocals that have a foundation in the R&B sounds of Otis Redding and other 60's artists. Todd Larson, who has been drumming for more than 20 years, was a perfect match to round out this power-trio format. Easy Money plays original blues with a strong funk, jazz and R&B edge that makes for a blast wherever they play.
