One of the most engaging Rhythm and Blues entertainers in the Twin Cities, Big John Dickerson started out his musical career in the 1940's by singing on the streets as an eleven year old in Sandusky, Ohio. Dickerson moved to Detroit in the late1950's where he was exposed to the music of The Temptations, B.B. King, Bobby Bland and Junior Parker and performed as a jazz drummer for many years. Big John’s charming stage personality, gritty vocals and good time antics has won over audiences around the Twin Cities for many years. He is often described as a teenager in a 67 year-old body. Two years ago Blue Chamber released their self titled CD on Cannonball Records and began a non-stop touring schedule that has included several trips to Europe. In 1999 they released their outstanding follow up CD, "Arms Of The Blues," also on Cannonball. Blue Chamber is composed of a group of "all star" musicians led by Iron Ranger Paul Mayasich who plays a scorching lead and slide guitar. The band’s new rhythm section includes Brenda King on bass and Jeff Rogers on drums. Scott David Miller is joined on keyboards by the horn section led by Joe DeRasmi on trumpet and Brian Simonds on tenor saxophone. Most of these musicians have been performing for years, backing some of the great blues legends. Big John Dickerson & Blue Chamber come roaring out of the Twin Cities in a no-holds-barred blues and R&B assault. Get ready as they transform the Blues On The Range stage into their own roadhouse featuring some rip-roaring, good-time big band blues.
