blues picture To say Norton Buffalo is anything less than a harp ace, would be blasphemy. Besides fronting a band, he did a twenty-year stint with the Steve Miller Band. His solo debut-after a twenty-year hiatus from recording, was the highly acclaimed: King of The Highway (Blind Pig Records). He has also recorded several collaborations with Roy Rogers-all very successful endeavors (Blind Pig). Roy Rogers is a premier slide player, and is in constant demand on both sides of the Atlantic. He released his first record in 1985, and hasn't let up since that time. Rogers is a highly influenced bluesman with special interests in all forms of American music. For instance, if you dig blues and some fine slide, you'll like this disc; yet fans of folk music and C&W, can enjoy this album as well. Rogers and Buffalo, work so well together that you'd swear they were brothers-close friends for sure! They hit you with a tough opener: "Don't Throw Your Changes On Me" --great song with crystal clear vocals. Following the same course on tracks #2 and #3: "All I Want" and "Under The Rug."-Norton's harp burns on #3! I dig track #4: "Requiem" a dark and edgy piece of work; outstanding vocals from Buffalo. The following song: "If I Were A King" takes on a mellow mood. Near the halfway mark, we're treated to an instrumental: "Ritmo De Las Almas" (love it!). Norton's harp work, and Roger's slide compliment each other throughout the recording-excellent 12 string from Roger's on track #11: "Seven Hearts." They tip in the perfect instrumental: "Happy Go Lucky" for the finale.
