When the liner notes on the back of the disc says: "The MBB (Maynard Brothers Band) proudly enjoys Busch beer at all of their recording sessions. And. They enjoy A LOT OF IT." You might think these guys like to party - you'd be right. Healthy doses of blues influenced rock, boogie, slide guitar, surf tremolo (a la Dick Dale), grunge, a twelve bar slow burn blues cut and a couple of slow ballads round out a musical selection that offers up an assortment of different and enjoyable musical styles. The Maynard brothers Erv, guitars/backing vocals, Jeff on bass guitar (and throat), and "Clutch" Reiser on drums and percussion are native Californians. They exhibit not only individual talent on their respective instruments, but the ensemble playing is obviously the result of a hard working band that has played together for some time. If you like your blues with a rockin' edge don't overlook this one! The Maynard trio is joined by guests Tony Perrino on Hammond B3, Bobby Howard on piano, Rick Rourke on saxophone and a host of others dubbed "The Choir". All songs were written by Erv with the exception of "Baby Don't Walk Away", and he contributed to the lyrics of that one. There are no covers here just the vision of a trio of talented guys making a musical statement and looking for a wider audience to take along for a good time.
