Overall this is an outstanding cd, full of reminiscent beautiful tunes, catchy original tunes, and the star of all stars, "Mood Room Boogie", which seems to be the dj's choice along with "Once Too Often".
"Doodlin'" is a great start for your listening pleasure, and get you in a happy mood.
"So Slow" is a tune that lingers on so long. Great piece. I loved it recorded, but it was truly realized live.
If any of you have not seen Jerry Portnoy's show, you've gotta gotta gotta get outta!
"You Rascal You" No comment, though this is an oldie. Lyrics are "bad."
"Canadian Sunset" beautiful classic piece. Sweet, but powerful, not drippy. Ditto with both "Sentimental Journey" and "Stormy Weather".
"Lullaby of Birdland" and "Jug Band Waltz" are cute pieces and "Endless Road" is a true picture of blues life, a very worthwhile composition.
The best cuts are "Lazy," "Once Too Often," "Money," and the big-time "Mood Room Boogie", all of which you'll want to play over and over. Listen carefully to these, words and music. Still the highlight of this release is a big highlight for many years to come: "Mood Room Boogie."
But you still have to see them LIVE, even if you have already done so!
