blues picture This CD is from a live performance from The Down-Home Pickin' Parlor in Johnson City, TN. for WETS-FM's Little Chicago Blues Festival held on the 28th April 2001. The album features 10 songs of which 7 are covers and the three remaining songs were written by guitarist and singer J.P. Delanoye.

The album opens with a very competent version of "Yonders Wall," which is received very well by the audience. "Tennessee Line" is one of the J.P. Delanoye songs, which starts with a good guitar riff and is a great little boogie tune that kind of grows on you. "Talkin' My Language" is another song by J.P. which has good keyboard work from Jerry Sams and is a sprightly, piano driven boogie piece, which also features some good harp and guitar work from J.P. as well. It not often you see blues bands these days doing Zydeco but Ghost Mountain do well by covering Buckwheat Zydeco's "Zydeco Boogaloo" which is a frantic paced dancer. I loved their cover of Allen Toussaint's "Play Something Sweet" although Fenton Robinson's "Loan Me A Dime" is a real slow burner with Lee Plemmons on drums shinning and Jerry Sams on organ playing superbly. The album ends with a very fast "If You Love Me Like You Say" written by Albert Collins.

If you were at the festival this is a must buy, if like myself you are interested in good local blues bands then look no further.
