Here is the one I've been waiting for-Deborah Coleman, live! This is an enhanced CD which contains a very cool video of Deb. Since her debut in 1997, with Blind Pig Records, she has recorded four albums-all very successful. In 1993, she won a National Amateur Talent Contest; leading to her first album: "Takin' A Stand," on New Moon Records. But don't let the dates fool you; Coleman has been playing guitar and singing in R&B bands for quite some time. She lists Cream, Joe Cocker, The Yardbirds, , Led Zeppelin, and a host of other bands as early influences. Coleman stands alone as a multi-talented vocalist, guitar player, and composer. On this outing, there are five originals and three great covers. The tracks are pleasingly long and full of surprises in regards to Coleman's guitar blitz. I loved her Fender Tele on previous outings, but the new Les sound gives her more room to sail-dig the improvs within the songs-such as: "My Heart Bleeds Blue." She hits you hard with a boogie drive on "Don't Lie To Me"-excellent axe attack! Listen to "I'm A Woman" (clocks in at 9:50)-a little bit of Bo Diddley, and a whole lot of Coleman; complete with a hint of fuzz tone! A very tough track #5: "You're With Me" is a warm-up to a jump and bounce track #6: "I Believe." The seventh track: "The Dream" will give you goosebumps. Her guitar sounds haunted-this is a killer mood piece. The final track: "Goodbye Misery" finds Coleman in top form. She gives you a 12:09 guitar lesson with a whole lot of soul.
