Well, Alvon's done it again! Those familiar with his unique, one-of-a-kind approach to (blues) music know, and those who are not yet aware are in for a great time with "Blues Grew Up." As a one time member of the Coasters (Blue Moon, Yackety Yak, Along Came Jones etc) he now crafts a synthesis of almost endless musical styles that have definitely the blues at the center. As a talented guitarist and vocalist he borrows from deep Mississippi traditional roots and 70's funk, west coast swing, electronic and gospel in and likely to all be incorporated in the same song! With help on this disc from "Guitar" Shorty and Keb Mo, Alvon continues on his quest to entertain and explore his musical influences with some straight-ahead blues, slowed down, funked up, juke joint and soulful interpretations of the blues genre. His vocals range from soulful and sultry to gritty and all touch all emotions in between. His guitar moves from the raw picking of delta acoustic to an amplified solo to accentuate a point. "Blues Grew Up" will acquaint Alvon to a broader audience, and well-deserved recognition. Having toured such places as Europe, the Far East, Australia, Malaysia, and many major US cities his live performances are not to miss events. For fans of the blues and fans of soul who like it infused with blues
