Minneapolis Gospel Sound
Minneapolis Gospel Sound (MGS) has been performing their spirited gospel singing at the Bayfront Blues Festival since 1992. Their annual Sunday morning show has become a welcome tradition to the festival and a great way to start off the final day of a great weekend of blues. Minneapolis Gospel Sound has been an important part of the national gospel scene since its formation in 1987. The members of Minneapolis Gospel Sound are committed to bringing the soul-stirring music and message of the gospel to the general population and have delighted and inspired their audiences from coast-to-coast. In 1989 the group helped launch the Sunday Morning Gospel Brunch at the Fine Line Music Café in Minneapolis and that same year were named Best Gospel Group at the Minnesota Black Music Awards. In 1995 the Minnesota Music Academy named them Best Gospel Group. They have several albums out and the group has had the honor of performing on stage with some of gospel's most renowned artists, including Thomas Whitfield and the Reverend James Moore. Minneapolis Gospel Sound explores contemporary rhythm and blues, original compositions and traditional gospel, infusing their music with passion and fervor. With music sprinkled with spicy soul, funk and gospel, Minneapolis Gospel Sound features an uplifting, full sound with high, sweetly soaring, four-part harmonies. Get ready to be moved in an old time revival meeting with hand clapping, swinging, singing and wailing.
